The German Puzzle Championship is the highlight of the year for speed puzzlers in Germany. With 660 places available in the individual category, it is the German Puzzle Association’s biggest event.
In 2027, there will once again be three competition categories: individual, pairs and team. In addition, for the first time, there will also be competitions for children aged between 4 and 13 and for seniors aged 65 and over.&
In the individual category, alongside the standard ranking for the German Champion, there will also be rankings for the German Youth Champion (under 18) and the German Senior Champion (over 50).
International guests are very welcome. They will have their own separate ranking and prizes.
In the foyer, participants and guests will have the opportunity to purchase snacks and drinks. The competition jigsaw puzzles and a colourful selection of other jigsaw puzzles are available from the popular Ravensburger PopUp Store. You can design and have a new favourite T-shirt printed with jigsaw puzzle motifs.

By public transport:
Pforzheim can be reached by long-distance and regional trains. Long-distance coaches also stop at Pforzheim Central Station.
The CCP is within walking distance of the main station (9 minutes). There are several city bus routes connecting the station to the CCP. The Weisenhausplatz stop is right in front of the CCP.
By car:
Pforzheim is situated on the A8 motorway between Karlsruhe and Stuttgart.
There is a major roadworks site on the A8 near Pforzheim, located between the Pforzheim Nord and Pforzheim Süd junctions in both directions. The stretch around Pforzheim is very prone to traffic jams – particularly at weekends and during rush hour. We recommend taking this into account when planning your journey. The Pforzheim Ost exit is partially closed; not every entry and exit is available.
Coming from Stuttgart, take the Pforzheim-Süd / Wurmberg exit and head towards Pforzheim. At the first roundabout, head towards ‘Hochschule / Wildpark’ and then follow the signs towards the city centre. Once you have crossed the River Enz, the CCP will be on your left. Turn left at the next junction and head for the Stadttheater car park.
Coming from Karlsruhe, take the Pforzheim-West exit and follow the signs towards the city centre via the B10, B294 and B463. Head for the Stadttheater car park.
Participants and spectators must provide their own refreshments. There are several cafés and restaurants in the immediate vicinity. There is a small supermarket within walking distance (7 minutes). Drinks and snacks are available for purchase in the foyer.
Food and drink brought onto the premises may not be consumed in the foyer or in the hall!
There are several hotels in Pforzheim. The Parkhotel Pforzheim is right next to the CCP. The City Hotel or the Ibis Styles Pforzheim are also within easy reach.
General Rules
Only participants and officials (persons authorised by the club) are permitted to enter the competition area.
Competitors must be on site 15 minutes before the start of the competition.
Participants under the age of 18 are generally permitted to take part. They must be accompanied by an adult. To take part in the individual competition, children under 14 in particular should be able to complete a 500-piece jigsaw puzzle independently within the required time and, where possible, have done so several times before.
The children’s competitions are open to children aged between 4 and 13. It is possible to take part in both the children’s competition and the adult competition, provided there is no overlap in timing.
The senior competitions are open to people aged 65 and over. It is possible to take part in both the senior competition and the adult competition, provided there is no clash in the timetable.
In the event of a participant failing to turn up, the club reserves the right to nominate replacements at short notice, e.g. from a waiting list.
Until the presenter announces the start of the competition and the stopwatch is started, the puzzle boxes must not be tampered with, unsealed or opened.
Officials will supervise the competition and record the solvers’ times. If a participant / pair / team is nearing completion of a puzzle, they must raise an arm to alert an official so that the official can record the time. After checking that the puzzle is complete, the official will record the time and pass it on to the chief referee.
If one or more pieces are missing, the official will not record the time until the participant signals that they wish to end the round. If pieces are missing at the end of the puzzle, 5 seconds will be added to the final time for each missing piece. If several pieces are missing in one area, the chief referee will decide whether a penalty time should be added.
If the jigsaw is not completed within the allotted time, the officials will count and record the correctly placed pieces.
Once the puzzle has been completed, participants may leave the competition area early; however, they must take all their belongings with them and take care not to obstruct other participants. Once the competition has finished, all participants should leave the competition area promptly with their belongings so that it can be prepared for the next competition.
Sorting aids or boards may be used as aids. Box-top holders are also permitted. Headphones are permitted, provided they do not disturb other participants. Participants must bring their own aids.
Items that alter the height or arrangement of the tables are not permitted. Additional light sources are not permitted. Templates depicting the jigsaw manufacturer’s pattern are not permitted.
Any assistance during the competition from a person other than the participant may result in the participant’s disqualification.
All jigsaw puzzles used in the competition become the property of the participants once the competition has ended.
The decisions of the judges during the competitions are final.
The organiser wishes to point out that photographs and video recordings will be taken during the event and that these may be used for public reporting on the internet or other social media. Participants and spectators may be shown in these.
The organiser accepts no liability for the loss of or theft of any items of any kind.
In the event of the championship being cancelled or postponed for reasonsbeyond the control of Puzzleverein Deutschland e.V., Puzzleverein Deutschland e.V. shall not be liable for any indirect expenses incurred by participants, with the exception of the registration fees paid.
